To believe in what God has endowed us is to recognize and value the gifts and talents He has placed in us to accomplish His will in our lives. The example of King David is particularly revealing: he bravely faced Goliath without concern for military distinctions or conventional human titles. David was not a career soldier and did not have a degree according to the standards established by society. Yet he trusted in his experience with God and in the trials that God had allowed him to overcome. As a shepherd David had already won victories over wild beasts in the privacy of darkness out of sight using the strength that God had granted him.

So, facing Goliath, David knew what he had to do, confident in what God had prepared him for this day. He knew that no matter what the world thought of his abilities, the important thing was to be faithful to his mission in faith. By overcoming the impossible with determination, David had proven that true strength lies in his faith in God and His plan for all of us.
