In Scripture, the apostle Peter is the one Christ chooses to be the "rock" upon which he will build his Church. This choice is not insignificant: Peter symbolizes a true faith despite his human imperfections. Contrary to current norms that often associate divine service with perfect morality, Peter's example reminds us that God is not looking for flawless individuals, but for sincere and determined souls.

Peter was neither a scholar nor a man of faith; he was simply a humble fisherman who faced moments of questioning and even denying Christ and failing in his attempt to walk on water at his command. Yet Christ chose him for his sincerity and his courage to be authentic despite his weaknesses. God does not ask that we be perfect in the eyes of the world; he simply invites us to have authentic faith even if it may be shaky.

Through Peter's example, God invites us to serve with a sincere heart, in spirit and in truth. Like rough diamonds, it is under the hand of the Creator that we find our true form, when we agree to abandon ourselves to him. May our faith, even tinged with imperfections, be transformed into a tribute offered to the One who shapes our existences with tenderness and perseverance.
